*Climbs into the cab of Ward, and helps you in*
Well, looks like I'm both firing and operating this engine, but hey, I'm up for a challenge. Also, it's just you and me Sweetie.

Re: Britannia Palace
Are you sure?
This engine can be very cantankerous, take your eye off her for a second, she'll get ya.
I'll show you how to fire her, then sit on my lap and I'll show you how to run her.

Re: Britannia Palace
Okay.
You'll be on the left hand side, right in front of you is the Westinghouse Air Compressor which powers the brakes on the locomotive, it'll be making huffing and puffing sounds, so don't pay attention to that, they just mean it's function the way it should.
Right here is the main firing valve, right by your right hand. It controls the amount of bio-fuel that goes from the locomotives fuel tank into the fire box. Move it towards you, the richer the mix, and the more oil you burn. Also right next to it are your atomizer and blower valves. The blower you only need all the way open when we're stationary, like now. Once we get moving, the locomotive will be creating it's own draft naturally so you won't need the blower open all the way. Just give it a little atomizer, and you should be good to go. Also, this glass right here is your water sight glass, it's important to have enough water in the boiler, so you want to have a quarter to a half a glass, you don't want a full glass because too much water in the boiler will cause unpleasant pulling over, and we don't want that. How you fill the boiler up with water, is through your injector valves right here. It's really a matter of feel with the when to open the injector valves, but you'll get the hang of it. Also keep your eye on the main pressure gauge. We're at 150 PSI, and we'd like to stay there. If we go too low, this engine won't be too happy, go too high, the emergency safety valve will go off, and the engine will be mad with you as will, so you always want to keep your eye on the pressure gauge.
I know it's a lot too keep track of, but you'll get the hang of it.

Re: Britannia Palace
On my side, I also have a water sight glass, so I can inform you whether we have too much or too little in the glass. I also have my own set of injectors for emergencies. Also, right here is the throttle, you pull it back, a valve opens up in the dome, allowing steam to go down to the cylinders which move the pistons and move the engine. This lever coming out of the floor is known as the Johnson Bar, and it makes the engine go forward when pushed all the way forward, or backwards when all the way back. It also lengthens and shortens the valve strokes on the locomotive and controls the speed. And right here by my hand across from your firing valve is the handle to control the brakes on the cars and entire train, and the handle above it controls the brakes on the engine.
Also, if you see that chord above you, that chord rings the bell, so you have the fun bit to ring the bell whenever we go through a tunnel, over a bridge, through a grade crossing, or into a station. And the chord above me is for the whistle. I blow it when moving forward, reverse, signal to stop, going over a bridge or over a crossing.
So, that's the controls for the engine for you.

Yep. You'll be a pro in no time, fortunately the locomotive is in a good mood, so you'll be just fine

Re: Britannia Palace
*smiles* Anytime my love.
*Slowly and gently releases the brakes, places the reverser all the way forward, and slowly and gently opens the throttle*
Okay, just move the main firing valve towards you, slowly close the blower valve, and open up the atomizer valve a quarter turn. The water level is fine as it is, so don't worry about the injectors. Boiler pressure is 150, we're good to go Sweetie.

Re: Britannia Palace
Great, job sweetie, slowly open her up a little more.
*gently opens the throttle more, and slowly shortens the valve strokes, and the engine begins to huff and puff more and more as we pick up speed.*

Alright, we are good to go Sweetie.
We're at a good 15 mph, so for now just relax.

*Walks over, picks you up, and holds you*
I don't know how, I don't know why, but Kate it seems, you touched my life
You're my dreams
You're in my heart
I'm not myself, when we're apart
Somethin strange has come over me, raging wind across the seas
And girl you know that you're eyes are to blame
What am I supposed to do
If I can't get over you
Come to find that you don't feel the same
Cause I'm fallin fallin
Kate I've fallen for you
And I pray you're fallen tooo
I have fallen fallen
Ever since the moment, I laid eyes on you...
*Gently kisses your forehead*
